Thanksgiving
What a blessing it is to be able to celebrate a day of Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday in November. In commemorating the first official Thanksgiving Day in the United States, President George Washington said,
“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public Thanksgiving and Prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness."
We can get so busy with the meal preparations and cleaning up. family dynamics, Black Friday sales, etc, that we forget that this day was set aside as a national holiday to give thanks unto God for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do. Let's not just have this as an annual tradition, but make it a part of our everyday lifestyle!
California rain update
After ending October with some much needed rain, California remained dry for the most part throughout November. A couple of days did see unforecasted drizzle and some showers. No rain is in sight at the moment, but more unforecasted rain could surprise us.
What have we been up to?
We don't have a clear direction forward yet. We have, however, received a couple prophetic words that indicate we are in the right place for now and God will put things together for the next leg of our journey in His time. In the meantime, we continue to pray with friends on the phone multiple times a week for the United States and other areas of the world.
Todd was provided the privilege to share at a church one time during the month. The LORD laid on his heart to share about how we can pray according to God's will during these uncertain times. There were three main ideas he discussed in the message. We hope that they are a blessing to you.
- Wait on the LORD to get His heart and mind concerning a matter before praying. After you hear from Him, then pray what He tells you to pray. When we don't do this, we can end up praying our opinions and in opposition to His will.
- Declare, "Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." This is a sure way to pray according to His will.
- Pray in tongues. Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of the Father.
Prayer points
- For the Great Awakening and Revival that is beginning in the United States to grow at a rapid rate
- For God to shine His light to expose and destroy the hidden agendas of the enemy at work in the U.S. and other countries of the world.
- For the Church in the U.S. to come together around the body and blood of Jesus and partake of true reconciliation.
- For the Church to believe that it is the light of the world, and to actively bring that light into the dark arenas of the world. Where there is no light, only darkness exists.
- For Holy Spirit to continue to mold us into true holiness and reveal His next step for us.
